"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance"
Aristotle
My name is Margarita Kay and I am an artist, photographer, traveler, writer and blogger.
My inspiration comes from my environment: music, nature, expressions of human faces, and paintings and sculptures of the grand masters. My art reflects my dreams, my fantasies, and my soul. Another big part of my life is meditation and many of my paintings appear thru the amazing world of stillness and love that come about through meditation. When I put a new canvas on my easel, I simply have an idea: just a hazy image in my head.
Nevertheless, following the first touch of my bristles my hazy image becomes clearer and vibrant. Art is my passion and nothing else matters when I am painting. The whole world can pass by.
Vincent van Gogh once confessed: "I put my heart and my soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process."
I have a very adventurous personality. I have many different interests and I have seen and done just about everything.
I am most influenced by my father - a talented sculptor and visual artist and by the grand master of the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Impressionist, and Contemporary eras. I often travel to see original paintings of great artists of all periods. I have learned and experienced art in the many great museums and galleries of the word: Uffizi, Louvre, Prado, Royal Academy of Arts, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Rijksmuseum and many others.
I work in several styles. I have painted different subjects such as portraits, abstracts, and landscapes and played with different colors, shapes, and forms.
I have a background in Mechanical Design Engineering and MBA. My work as an engineer requires a lot of creativity. I believe the realm of engineering is a part of the art world.
